FRIDA LAS VEGAS x SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE

Since 2022, I've been a co-facilitator and mentor in the BUILD secondary school program at the Sydney Opera House Centre for Creativity, co-delivering an immersive week of creative learning and design thinking with year 9 and 10 students, with a big-time sense of play built in.

Across each week-long intensive program, 60 students from schools across Sydney create a piece of wearable architecture inspired by the world-famous Sydney Opera House.

My workshop, Fashion and the Future of the Planet, teaches simple construction techniques to build structural, yet wearable, costumes from recycled and sustainable materials.

I get a big thrill from sharing my skills and ideas with the next generation of designers, whose out-of-the-box thinking inspires me and positively shapes my own creative practice in return.

BUILD is a program I'm stoked to keep returning to, working alongside the fabulous Sydney Opera House Creative Learning team. Is there a better building in the world to arrive at work every day?!
